Waterfront Masterpiece
A whole-home commission in vertical-grain, flat-cut white oak: kitchen, pantry, primary closet, bathroom, bar and a set of bespoke bunk beds, all drawn, engineered and made under one roof in Kelowna.
The brief asked for cabinetry that would hold its own against the lake beyond the glass, and still feel domestic at arm’s length. We answered it with a single material carried through the whole house: flat-cut white oak, laid in vertical grain and stained ash, so the same wood reads differently in a bright kitchen than it does in a closed pantry.
The kitchen runs floor to ceiling, rising to 96″ and finished with a 3″ crown moulding. Gables are ¾″ throughout, and mitered returns flank the premium appliance wall so no end grain is ever visible where a hand would fall. That decision alone added days at the bench, and it is the reason the wall reads as one continuous piece of timber rather than a run of boxes.
Away from the kitchen the same logic holds. The primary closet is a quiet room in its own right, the bar is cut for entertaining, and the bunk beds are joinery rather than furniture, built into the architecture so they will still fit when the children have outgrown them.
